How to Install Weed Control Fabric

 1. Pull any weeds in the garden area to clear the soil. Treat the area with a pre-emergent herbicide product if desired.

2. Spread the weed control fabric over the desired area. Cut an 'x' in the material over any area where you are placing new plantings. Make the X large enough to accommodate the root ball. Mark the location of existing plants on the fabric. Cut a hole in the weed control fabric to accommodate the base of the plant, then cut a straight line from the hole ou to the edge of the fabric so that you can slide the fabric around the plant.

3. Pin the edges down with the stakes provided with your weed control fabric. Place the stakes every 3 to 5 feet around the outer perimeter

4. Cover the surface of the fabric with 3 to 4 inchese of mulch or crushed stone to protect it from sun damage and help anchor it. Spread the mulch or stone on the areas between your plants, using care to avoide damaging plant roots.
